Grmek Ready For Coliseum Debut As Gladiators Host Scorpions

The Plymouth Gladiators return to home action this Saturday as they welcome the Scunthorpe Scorpions to the Coliseum in what promises to be another exciting night of speedway action.

The Gladiators will bring in Alfie Bowtell as a guest for Daniel Klima, who is away on international duty, and Bowtell says he cannot wait to return to Plymouth.

“I’m very much looking forward to making a return to the Colosseum as a guest and look forward to seeing all the fans again,” he said.

Supporters will also get their first chance to see Anze Grmek in home action after an encouraging start to life with the Gladiators on the road. The Slovenian youngster has already shown promising form in the away fixtures and is eager to continue that momentum in front of the Plymouth supporters.

Grmek admits the Plymouth circuit is shorter than the tracks he is more familiar with but is confident he can quickly adapt to the demands of the Colosseum.

“The tracks are a lot shorter than I’m used to, but I’m confident I can get dialled in and have no issues,” he said.

Saturday’s meeting also marks the birthday of Scott Nicholls, with team manager Garry May hoping the team can deliver the perfect present with a strong performance on track.

“It’s a celebration on and off the track,” said May. “It would be a great birthday gift if we can come out on top with a win and, of course, everyone has to dig deep.

“We hope all the fans can also come along, drive the boys on and push us forward. I can’t say too much, but we are planning on doing something at the interval and involve all the fans as well.”

With plenty happening both on and off the track, supporters are encouraged to pack out the Coliseum and get behind the Gladiators in what promises to be a memorable evening.

Tickets can be purchase online or pay on the gate (Cash or card). Gates open at 5pm with tapes up at 7pm.
