Plymouth Gladiators delighted to welcome Club stalwart Benjamin Barker back to the Club for the 2026 Championship season.

Barker will be starting his 23rd season in the Sport having started his career in 2003 with the Cornish Team Trelawny. His career has included spells at some of the major UK teams including Coventry, Ipswich, Peterborough and Glasgow.

Director mark Phillips commented, "Ben will start the season on an average that belies the immense talent he still has. He can be a match winner at The Coliseum on any occasion and is still a real asset to the Club with his wide experience of all of the Away Tracks we'll visit. 

The fact that we have now got Scott (Nicholls) and Danny (King) as equally vastly experienced Heat Leaders; will take a lot of scoring pressure off Ben; and we expect him to face very fierce competition from Joe (Thompson) for the third Heat Leader berth, and together with the signings of Tobias (Thomsen)  and Daniel (Klima) we feel that a fully fit and firing Ben, gives us terrific depth in the Team both at home and away.

We will be working hard with Ben to help him get fully race fit and to offer him as much Track Practice time as possible to get him back to the sort of genuine Heat Leader form that we know he is still capable of. The significant alterations we made to the Track over the past few seasons will only boost his all action style which our Supporters love to watch.
