WELCOME OUR NUMBER ONE!!

Plymouth Gladiators Speedway are delighted to announce that the vastly experienced Danny King will spearhead the 2026 Gladiators Team in the 2026 British Speedway Championship League, alongside the recently announced multi times British Champion Scott Nicholls.

Danny, himself a former British Champion (2016) and multi times GB international Team rider, has just completed a highly successful season winning Premier League Championship Honours with his long time Premiership Club the Ipswich Witches, and winning the BSN Team Trophy with his previous Championship Club, the Redcar Bears. Danny has previously been a League Championship winning Team Member with Poole Pirates in 2021 and 2022 and a multi times Knock Out Cup winner with Poole and Ipswich.

Club Owner and Director could not hide his excitement with the potential of his new signing.

"Danny is a consummate professional with an outstanding record over many seasons. His performances in 2025 in winning silverware in the Premier League with Ipswich and the Championship with Redcar showed that he retains all of his ability, hunger and desire to win. His presence, together with Scott (Nicholls) will ensure an outstanding degree of experience and mentorship for our younger riders , together with an inbred winning mentality that is frankly priceless.

Whilst we have had some excellent No 1 riders in the recent past it is also vitally important to stress that in Scott and Danny we have two committed riders who have no commitments to Teams outside of the UK, specifically in Poland, and we are very keen to track (injuries permitting of course) the same consistent 1-7 team in every fixture in 2026, home and away. Due to circumstances outside of our control, this has not always been the case in the recent past.

I do have to reflect on the fact that the incredible upsurge in support and enthusiasm in and around the Club in the past 6 months has been a massively significant factor in us being able to recruit both Danny and Scott and the buzz and excitement that you, our fan base, new and old, has created is something that we can all be very proud of.

It is something we wish to carry forward and energise to even greater heights in 2026, off the Track, and with the Team we are building on the Track too.

This is a clear demonstration that our Fuel the Future mission is more than a statement, it’s a direction of travel and we hope you can continue to support us and believe in what we are doing.

FOOTBALL legend and ‘King of the Jungle’ Harry Redknapp has vowed to help make speedway great again!!

The former Bournemouth, West Ham, Portsmouth and Tottenham boss has decided to get fully behind the resurgence in his favourite motorsport.

Harry has joined the management team of Speedway Futures Ltd who hold the sporting, commercial and media rights for speedway in the UK and he is delighted to see the action packed sport in the headlines again.

He said: “I watch it on TNT Sports and its fantastic entertainment. These guys are going from 0-60 quicker that a Formula One car, with no brakes and they risk life and limb every time they race.

“I only live a few miles from Poole Stadium and back in the day I often took my boys Mark and Jamie to the speedway to watch the brave daredevils in action and it is still the great evening out that it always was.

“It really is breathtaking motorsport on your doorstep and it’s the same all over the country at places like Belle Vue, Sheffield, Oxford, Leicester, Ipswich, Glasgow and Kings Lynn to name but a few of the iconic venues.

“I loved watching the speedway on World of Sport on a Saturday afternoon in the football close season and got to know Barry Briggs quite well.

“It’s amazing to think that in 1981 the Speedway World Championship final drew a crowd of 90,000 to the old Wembley Stadium!

“In those days 12 million people watched speedway on World of Sport and the top riders, Briggo, Ivan Mauger, Ole Olsen, Peter Collins and Bruce Penhall became household names.

“The sport definitely suffered with the demise of World of Sport but it's back on the rise without a doubt and anything I can do to help that I definitely will.

“The racing is still out of this world and Great Britain are World Champions having won the title for the second time in four years, what an achievement and something the sport and the country should be so proud of!”

Harry has promised to play his part in raising the profile of his favourite motorsport and added: “If I can lead top football clubs to cup glory and the Champions League then I am sure that I can help a great sport like speedway hit the big time again.

“I love it, it’s a fantastic and exciting watch and must be the rawest form of motorsport in the world.

“Four riders per race, elbowing each other to win at high speed, 15 races per meeting, there is little to match it in sport and it’s a terrific evening out for the punters.

“I know once people go they will want to keep going back. TNT Sports are getting great audiences for the live events and the traditional clubs are getting big crowds…and I really want to be part of making speedway huge again, that is certainly my aim!”

PLYMOUTH GLADIATORS SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCEMENT

MISSION: Fuel the Future

It’s time to introduce you to some exciting times ahead, so please check out the following announcement.

Speedway is pure adrenaline, fast, loud, and thrilling. But at Plymouth, it’s more than racing. The Coliseum isn’t just a track, it’s the heartbeat of our community. A place where families gather, friendships are forged, and people find space to escape life’s pressures. For many, it’s a lifeline: a place that nurtures mental wellbeing and a sense of belonging.

Promoter Mark Phillips says: “2025 has shown us the full potential of what we can achieve both on and off the track. The growing support from our fans this year has been incredible, breaking attendance records, and with a strong team working behind the scenes, we are ready to drive a new chapter of energy and innovation into speedway.”

We are about to embark on a mission to Fuel the Future of speedway. We’re evolving the sport to create a sustainable, inclusive, and electrifying environment, one that excites new fans, inspires long-time supporters and children, and celebrates the pride of our city.

Looking ahead to 2026, we’re planning to introduce additional features throughout the club from behind-the-scenes enhancements to new experiences for fans designed to entice newcomers while keeping our loyal supporters engaged. Every upgrade, every innovation, will bring us closer to a future where speedway isn’t just watched, but truly experienced.

Children are at the heart of that future. Inspiring the next generation is vital, whether it’s creating unforgettable family experiences at the Coliseum or helping young fans dream of one day climbing onto a speedway bike themselves. Development, opportunity, and inspiration will be central to our mission, ensuring that speedway has a future that stretches far beyond today.

None of this can happen without the fans. Your support is the engine that drives this movement. By joining us, you’re part of the story, a story that aims to reignite British speedway and make Plymouth a beacon for the sport across the UK.

And for our commercial partners, this mission offers a powerful opportunity to stand alongside a passionate community, align your brand with energy, innovation, and pride, and help shape the future of one of Britain’s most thrilling sports.

Sponsorship here isn’t about logos on a fence it’s about being part of a movement that’s fast, loud, and together.

Fuel the Future • Fast • Loud • Together
