(“The Donut King”)
Tobias Vangsted Thomsen was born on 23 August 1994 in Brovst, Denmark, a region with a deep speedway tradition. Growing up around bikes and shale, Tobias followed the classic Danish pathway into the sport — honing his craft on small tracks, building solid fundamentals, and developing the work ethic that would later become his trademark.
He progressed through the Danish system riding for clubs such as Holstebro and Region Varde, earning a reputation as a battler with raw speed and big heart. By his early 20s he had become a dependable scorer in one of Europe’s toughest domestic leagues.
A major breakthrough came when he helped Region Varde win the Danish Speedway League title twice — in 2016 and 2018 — cementing his status as a rider capable of contributing to championship-winning teams.
Tobias’ career is built on steady progression, hard work and success across multiple countries:
Danish Champion (Team) – 2016 & 2018
Playing a key role for Region Varde, Tobias showed he could perform under pressure in one of speedway’s most competitive national leagues.
In 2019, he crossed the water to join the Birmingham Brummies in the Championship.
He finished his debut British season with an average just under 4.00 — a solid foundation and proof he could adapt quickly to UK tracks.
His move to the Poole Pirates made him a fan favourite almost instantly.
Tobias became a key part of Poole’s 2024 treble-winning campaign, helping secure the:
Championship League title
KO Cup
BSN Series
Poole’s co-promoter praised his unwavering effort and determination — the type of rider who leaves everything on the track.
In 2025, the Plymouth Gladiators secured his signature, bringing his energy, momentum and championship experience to the Coliseum.
With more track time, a new environment, and a passionate fanbase behind him, Tobias arrives in Devon ready to step into a bigger role — both as a scorer and as a character.
Tobias has become known not just for his racing ability, but for the way he goes racing:
He gives 100% every race, every lap — chasing lines others won’t try, forcing passes, and making life difficult for anyone ahead of him. His style is aggressive yet controlled, ideal for tight tracks like Plymouth.
Whether it's post-race celebrations, wheelies, burnouts or just high-energy personality, Tobias connects with fans. He rides with emotion and shows it — something supporters love.
Having already tasted title success in both Denmark and Britain, Tobias arrives with a mindset shaped around winning teams, big moments, and delivering when it counts.
He’s not a rider who was handed anything — everything in his career has been earned. His steady climb through Danish and British leagues reflects resilience, patience and hunger.
